Letter to the Ann Arbor Transportation Commission re. WBWC Comments on East Medical Bridge Project
Please find attached a letter WBWC sent to the Ann Arbor Transportation Commission concerning the City and U-M proposal to redesign and rebuild the East Medical Center Drive bridge over the railroad. The Transportation Commission meets this Wednesday (December 15th) where Staff will be revealing detailed plans.
From our earlier statement, redesign of the bridge gives the opportunity to enhance the safety of bicyclists and pedestrians and make progress toward the completion of the planned trail system. The proposed contract calls for adding a 10-foot vehicle lane that may be needed for hospital traffic in the future. WBWC suggests including in the design features that will improve non-motorized safety now.
