Letter to Ann Arbor City Council re. Resolution to Support increased Bike Lane Level-of-Service

Please find attached a letter WBWC sent to Ann Arbor City Council concerning Resolution CA-2 (to Appropriate Funds and to Amend the Public Services Area Alternative Transportation Fund Operations and Maintenance Budget to Support increased Bike Lane Level-of-Service).

Dear Ann Arbor City Council,

We write to express our support for Resolution CA-2, to Appropriate Funds and to Amend the Public Services Area Alternative Transportation Fund Operations and Maintenance Budget to Support increased Bike Lane Level-of-Service, under consideration at today’s City Council meeting.

Good bicycle infrastructure plays an important role in several of Ann Arbor’s key commitments: to Vision Zero and the elimination by 2025 of death and critical injuries caused traffic crashes; to A2Zero and the achievement of carbon neutrality by 2030; and to its Comprehensive Transportation Plan. This resolution will help ensure that Ann Arbor’s bicycle infrastructure is kept in a usable state. The Washtenaw Bicycling & Walking Coalition (WBWC) is particularly pleased to see snow removal featured in this resolution, as proper winter maintenance will encourage year-round use of Ann Arbor’s network.

WBWC therefore urges Ann Arbor City Council to support this resolution and demonstrate its commitment to its bicycle infrastructure.

We thank you for your work on behalf of Ann Arbor.

Sincerely,

Washtenaw Bicycling & Walking Coalition Board of Directors
